I’m headed to the inaugural USA Festival of Education – Education Rickshaw

I am excited to announce that I will be presenting at the inaugural USA Festival of Education in October. You can see my presentation description below, which is found in the website under the Cognitive Science strand.

I think the organizers of USA Festival of Education must be confused about what we do around here in American education. They seem to have placed a premium on ensuring that the sessions are led by evidence-informed practitioners and researchers, each of whom are presenting on cutting edge topics that bridge the gap between research and practice.

Dan Willingham. Patrice Bain. Kristin Simmers. Gene Tavernetti. Bradley Busch. Blake Harvard. Andrew Watson. Oliver Caviglioli.

Practice testing. Questioning. Worked examples. Self-regulated learning. Cognitive load.

This is contrasted with what we normally get here: The Standard American Diet (SAD) of opinion-based, Pinterestified, ideologically-driven sort of PD.

You know, the kind that doesn’t “D” and isn’t very “P”.

The most surreal part of this? I will be meeting people I’ve been talking to for years online for the first time in person.

They should know I’m 6 foot 11 and that my crossover is lethal ⛹️‍♂️ 🏀.
